Cuando Holden creció..

Mi libro favorito como lo escribi
alguna vez aqui es The Catcher in the Rye.

Mucha gente ignorante, obviamente.

Estoy hablando de Shantaram, de Life of Pi,

We probably got in the business in the first place because
interacting with normal
people in a normal works pace was
impossible or unattractive to us.
Many of us don’t know
how to behave in public-
and don’t care to find out

..

Let it suffice to say that by age eighteen

I was a thoroughly undisciplined young man,

lithely flunking or fading out of college.

( I couldn’t be bothered to attend classes ) .

I was angry at myself and at everyone else.

Essentially I treated the world as my ashtray.

I spent most of my waking hours drinking, smoking pot,

scheming and doing my best to amuse, outrage, impress

and penetrate anyone silly enough to find me entertaining.

I was – to be frank – a spoiled, miserable, narcissistic,

self-destructive and thoughtless young lout,

badly in need of a good asskicking.

..

My last semester at Vassar,

I’d taken to wearing nunchakus in a strap-on holster

and carrying around a samurai sword –

that should tell you all you need to know.

Nunchakus, matecito, es lo mismo!

I prayed that night. For many hours.
And, as you might assume, I’m the worst kind of atheist.

..

Writing anything is a treason of sorts.

Even the cold recitation of fats
which is hardly what I’ve been up to – is never the thing itself.

And the events described are somehow diminished in the telling.

My name is Anthony Bourdain

I write

I travel

I eat

And I'm hungry for more.

Amen!

It's funny. All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they'll do practically anything you want them to. ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
